How to Pay CRA Business Payments

Paying your taxes on time helps you stay compliant and avoid penalties. Below are step-by-step instructions for making CRA business payments for GST/HST, corporate income tax (instalments or balance owing), and payroll (source deductions).

  2. Select “Add a payee” or “Pay a bill”.

  3. Search for Canada Revenue Agency and choose the correct payee from the list:

    • CRA GST/HST (RT) – for GST/HST payments

    • CRA Corporate Tax (RC) – for income tax

    • CRA Payroll Deductions (RP) – for payroll remittances

  4. Enter your CRA program account number. Which is your 9 digit business number plus:

    • Corporate Tax: XXXXXXXXXRC0001

    • Payroll: XXXXXXXXXRP0001

  5. Enter the amount and payment type (instalment or balance owing if applicable).

  • Return amount owing – after filing a return

  • Instalment – for required pre-payments
